Reminder! MCC's Third Annual Scholars' Day - Call for Participation Deadline is February 14th!

There is still time to participate as well as encourage your students to participate in MCC’s Third Annual Scholars’ Day. For the second year in a row, there are competitive scholarships available to participating students. The scholarships are made possible by donors to the MCC Foundation.

Please visit our website (https://web.monroecc.edu/scholarsday) for more information, examples of previous student and faculty/staff abstracts, as well as a link to the online submission form.

This year's keynote address will be given by Dr. Barbara Ehrenreich, world-renowned journalist, social critic, and author of the best-selling Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By In America, and Bright-Sided: How Positive Thinking Is Undermining America.

MCC's third annual Scholars' Day will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011.

All faculty and students are invited to submit proposals for presentation, and we encourage faculty and staff to support and promote submissions from their talented and interested students.

The purpose of Scholars' Day is to showcase work of the college's students and faculty. Members from every discipline are welcome to submit proposals. Presentations may take many forms, including traditional presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions, demonstrations, performances, etc.

Scholars' Day is a wonderful opportunity for students and faculty to exhibit their work, to engage in intellectual discussion, and to recognize the outstanding efforts of some of MCC's finest citizens.  Last year, 36 students and 20 faculty presented on topics ranging from "The Contemporary African American Experience" to "The Geography of Wine."

We encourage you to take part in this year's celebration of academic achievement.
