The office of Student Life & Leadership Development presents the following events for next week (please share with students):

Voices of Vigilance Art Exhibit

  • Monday, March 20th, Tuesday, March 21st, & Thursday, March 23rd, 11pm to 1pm, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center Terrace
    Join the Comic Book Club and The Holocaust Genocide & Human Rights Project for an Art Exhibit in the terrace. The art will be in promotion of guest speaker Gene Luen Yang, author of American Born Chinese. The art will focus on the rise of extremism and Anti-Asian Hate in America.  

Phi Theta Kappa Information Session

  • Wednesday, March 22nd, 12pm to 1pm, Brighton Campus Building 3-115 & Zoom
    Interested in joining PTK or just learning more about the awesome benefits of being a member. Join the information session. Lunch will be provided!

Safe Zone Training

  • Wednesday, March 22nd, 3pm to 5pm, Campus Center Brighton Room (3-217)
    Learn about the LGBTQ+ community and how to make campus an inclusive and welcoming space. All are welcome & free to join! Refreshments will be served.
    This is a LEAD certificate-eligible event. Please RSVP by emailing cvazzana@monroecc.edu.

Welcome Ramadan!

    Join the Muslim Student Association for the welcoming of Ramadan. Stop by for some yummy snacks and learn about Ramadan and it’s importance.

Voice of Vigilance: Gene Luen Yang, Graphic Novelist

  • Thursday, March 23rd, 7pm, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center Monroe A/B & Livestreamed
    Join the Comic Book Club and The Holocaust Genocide & Human Rights Project in collaboration with Rochester Institute of Technology and Book Eater Comic Book Store for the annual Voices of Vigilance presentation. Yang will talk about his graphic novel American Born Chinese and the rise of Anti-Asian Hate in America.

Saver’s Fundraising Event

  • Friday, March 24th, 9am to 12:30pm, Club Room Bldg. 3- 137L
    Help the Sustainability Club raise funds by donating gently used clothing, books, and small household items!

Other news:

  • The Comic Book Club will be hosting a table at the Rochester Independent Comic Expo (RICE) at the Mercantile on Main (240 E Main St., Rochester, NY) Saturday, March 25th. RICE is a showcase of local and regional comic creators where they can sell their original work and connect with the community. It is intended to be an event with something for all ages.
