MCC's Winter Instrumental Concert Ushers in a Season of Cool!

Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Bob Mintzer. ..

On Monday, Dec. 13, 7:30 p.m., Monroe Community College student-musicians will take the stage to perform a few compositions of some legends in jazz.

Directed by MCC faculty member and well-known jazz pianist John Nyerges, a small jazz combo will jump start the evening with Dizzy Gillespie’s “A Night in Tunisia.” The MCC Jazz Ensemble will then lend its big band sound to such instrumentals as “Cotton Tail” (Ellington) and “New Rochelle” (Mintzer). MCC’s Classical Guitar Ensemble, directed by David Olsen, is also expected to join in on this evening of music.

Free and open to the public, MCC’s Winter Instrumental Concert will be held in the Brighton Campus Theater, Bldg. 4, 1000 East Henrietta Road. Parking is available in Lot F.
