Please join me in congratulating Jean Howard, a member of the MCC Board of Trustees, on receiving the 2006 Athena Award. Her service to MCC and the Greater Rochester community is extraordinary. As you know, she recently retired from Wilson Commencement Park and has taken on a new challenge as chief of staff for Mayor Robert Duffy. Both honors -- the Athena Award and the leadership role within Mayor Duffy's administration -- could not be more well deserved.
The Athena Award, presented by the Women's Council of the Rochester Business Alliance, honors a woman of major achievement in business, community service and the professional advancement of women. This year's nominees came from a variety of industries, from health care to manufacturing. Jean was among 22 finalists for this year's award, chosen from more than 300 nominees.
Congratulations, Jean, and thank you for all you do for MCC and the Greater Rochester.
