Rochester AmeriCorps members team up with RochesterCares for King for a Day

Saturday, Jan. 15th, 2011, RochesterCares celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by organizing a day of service and city-wide activities that directly benefit the local community through volunteerism.

King For a Day (KFAD) is an opportunity for volunteers to engage in their choice of a variety of fun and fulfilling projects that aim to build a better Rochester and help those in need. Opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Stardust Ballroom where volunteers mingled and celebrated Dr. King’s timeless message of public service and equality.

More than 30 Rochester AmeriCorps members and staff served at InterVol’s RUMS program  (https://www.intervol.org/rums/) to help sort unused medical supplies to help diminish waste in our community and begin the process to get the unused supplies to organizations and nations in need.
