iPhone and iPad Users: DO NOT Update to iOS 6.1

Due to a software bug in Apple’s iOS 6.1 software for iPhone/iPad/iTouch, MCC is experiencing a mailbox syncing issue that could potentially impact all users of the college’s e-mail system.

We urge all users who have not updated their Apple device to iOS 6.1 not to install this system update.  We will communicate when it is safe to update after Apple addresses the problem and releases a safe version of their operating system.

For users that have already upgraded to iOS 6.1 and are using their device to synchronize with MCC e-mail and calendars, we ask that you please take the following steps to protect our e-mail system:

·         Do not create, accept, decline, or modify any calendar items on your Apple device until we confirm it is safe to do so.

·         Use either the full Outlook client on a PC or the Outlook Web App interface via a web browser from the MyMCC Portal to manage calendar items in the interim.

·         On your Apple device, navigate to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your MCC Exchange account from the Accounts list, and turn the switch for Calendars to OFF.  Wait ten seconds and turn the switch for Calendars back ON.  This will remove your MCC Exchange calendar from your device, and re-synchronize it with your phone.  This process may take a few minutes.  Afterwards, please heed the advice above regarding the management of calendar items on your phone until this bug has been resolved by Apple.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation in ensuring that our e-mail system remains available and functional for all MCC users.  We will communicate with you again as soon as we have confirmation that Apple has resolved this issue and has released an updated version of iOS.
