Richard "Dick" Hogan, Retiree (Facilities)

The college was recently informed of the passing of Richard L. "Dick" Hogan, an MCC retiree and alumnus, on Sept. 29, 2013, at age 69.

Mr. Hogan first came to MCC as a student aide at the Alexander Street campus in 1965, but life circumstances interfered with his successful completion of college. After serving four years in the Navy during the Vietnam era, he returned to the Rochester area and started his career at MCC in 1970. Balancing work and school, he eventually earned an associate degree in business administration from the college in 1975.

Mr. Hogan began his MCC career in Shipping & Receiving as a clerk. Over the years, he worked his way up the ranks in different departments, serving as senior draftsman, assistant director of physical plant, and eventually assistant architect of engineering in Facilities.

He was involved with the design of all modifications to the campus and was often praised for his fine workmanship. Among his accomplishments was spearheading the North Building project from construction to completion in 1993.

Other highlights of his career included serving as president of the CSEA in 1975.

Mr. Hogan retired as an architect for Facilities in 1998, although he continued to work for MCC part time for several years.

Mr. Hogan is survived by his wife, Sandra (Magliocco), daughter Kelly, son Kevin and daughter-in-law Leslie, brother Robert, sister-in-law Judith and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Ronald.
