MCC Breaks Ground on Second Set of Residence Halls

In response to growing student demand, Monroe Community College and the Monroe Community College Association broke ground last week on a second set of residence halls on the Brighton Campus. When the new halls open in Fall 2007, an additional 366 students will be able to live on campus.

“The college and the MCC Association certainly appreciate the support it received from the Monroe County Legislature, COMIDA (County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency) and the Town of Brighton to move this project forward,” said MCC President R. Thomas Flynn. “The new residence halls will satisfy the hundreds of students who want an on-campus living experience and result in fewer names on a lengthy waiting list.”

The DiMarco Group was selected to design and build the new residence halls based on competitive pricing and overwhelming satisfaction with the first set of halls.

The total project cost is estimated at $18.4 million. No public or tax dollars will be used.
