Excalibur!

On Thursday, 26 February at 6 p.m. in 12-129, please join Celtic Society for a screening of EXCALIBUR.

Based on Sir Thomas Malory's LE MORTE D'ARTHUR, the film depicts the legend of King Arthur and includes your favorite characters and tropes from Arthurian lore: Merlin, Guenevere, Lancelot and the rest of the knights of Camelot, Morgana, and, of course, the magical sword Excalibur. Filmed on location in Ireland, EXCALIBUR includes many then-young actors—several of them Irish--who have since gone on to become household names, including Ciarán Hinds, Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson, and Patrick Stewart.

Following the screening, MCC's own Lori Bartkovich, an Arthurian scholar, will lead discussion.

Throughout the spring semester, you can catch screenings and discussions of a number of Celtic-related films. Each is free, is open to the community, begins at 6 p.m., and takes place in 12- 129:

19 March                    PRIDE (Wales)

16 April                      CHASING THE DEER (Scotland)

7 May                         SONG OF THE SEA (Ireland)

Celtic Society's purpose is to raise awareness of the Celtic Nations (Brittany, Cornwall, Galicia, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales) and diaspora. It aims to share and celebrate Celtic culture with the college community. Celtic Society welcomes all students, faculty, and employees, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds.
