World AIDS Day Leadership Event, Nov. 29


World AIDS Day is a global event to remember those we have lost and to continue the fight for a cure for those living with HIV and AIDS. This year's theme is “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise – Leadership.”  The MOCHA (Men of Color Health Awareness) Project, Inc. is sponsoring a special event to promote prevention and education, along with co-sponsors:  MCC Damon City Campus, Abbott Virology , Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley, HIV Vaccine Trials Unit , Tibotec Therapeutics, and PRYD.

Where:      MCC Damon City Campus, 4th Floo Community Room

When:        Thursday November 29, 2007
                      12:00 pm – 2:00 pm

HIV Testing will be provided in the Wellness Center from 11:30-2:30, and George Bellinger, Jr. will be the key note speaker, presenting in the Community Room.

GEORGE BELLINGER, JR. has been working in AIDS education and services since 1982.  He has served in various capacities from outreach worker to Executive Director.  Most recently, he worked with Dr. Darrel. P. Wheeler on the Brothers y Hermanos project in New York City, and he serves as a member of the Core faculty members for the African American HIV University of the Black AIDS Institute in Los Angeles, CA.  Mr. Bellinger is an accomplished trainer and facilitator and has worked throughout the United States as well as internationally. He is the former Vice-Chair of the board for the New York State Black Gay Network and Board Chair of GMAD, the oldest black gay male organization in the country.  A renowned prevention specialist, George is proficient in organizational development and enhancement, policy issues, coalition building and addressing the needs of underserved communities. On a personal note, George is an emotional, spiritual and loving individual who celebrates the good of humanity, while understanding that reality can sometimes be harsh.
