Professional Development Opportunity Rescheduled from January 5

What can you do? Creating an Equitable Environment for All Students

MCC's Carl D. Perkins project invites faculty and staff to participate in a nationally-recognized professional development opportunity. As part of the effort to increase nontraditional gender students in CTE and STEM careers, the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) will present research-based strategies to improve communication between students and faculty, advisors, mentors, and employers by exploring unconscious bias. The manifestations of unconscious biases are micromessages, which may be relayed through words or through nonverbal communication, contextual cues in the environment, and through written feedback. Micromessages may be positive or negative and impact our students daily!
