MCC Foundation Honored Nationally for Educational Fundraising Performance

The Monroe Community College Foundation is the recipient of the 2009 CASE-WealthEngine Award for Educational Fundraising for overall performance. The foundation was the only public two-year institution among a list of 40 award winners, including Yale University, Columbia University and Rochester Institute of Technology.

“[MCC] has not only demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism and best practices in its fundraising efforts, it has contributed to the betterment of educational advancement worldwide,” CASE (Council for Advancement in Support of Education) President John Lippincott said.

MCC President Anne M. Kress says she is excited the good work of the MCC Foundation continues to attract national recognition. “The MCC Foundation has excelled at connecting people to the mission of the college and the success of its students. Private philanthropy supports Monroe Community College's high quality academic and training programs, creating an engaging student learning environment that is responsive to the needs of our diverse community. The CASE-WealthEngine Award is an external validation of how important the foundation is to MCC's commitment to excellence and innovation in support of student success,” she said.

“This award represents the unique value and level of service the MCC Foundation provides to the college, its students and the Rochester community,” MCC Foundation Executive Director Diane L Shoger said. “We are thankful to CASE and WealthEngine for this honor, and accept it on behalf of the generous donors and community philanthropists who give to the MCC Foundation in order to make the dream of higher education a reality for so many deserving students each year.”

The CASE-WealthEngine Awards for Educational Fundraising program honors exemplary development operations at CASE-member institutions. The awards program recognizes overall performance and overall improvement in educational fund-raising programs based on data submitted to the Council for Aid to Education's (CAE's) "Voluntary Support of Education" survey.

Out of 450 members colleges considered, 51 institutions were honored; 40 in overall performance and 29 for overall improvement.  Judges select winners based on a multitude of factors, including the pattern of growth in total support; overall breadth in program areas and alumni relations; donor growth; and the impact of the gifts.
