STEP CSTEP Reach Over 2,500 at Local High Schools


To mark the 20th anniversary of STEP and CSTEP—the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) science and technology entry programs -- Joann Santos (CSTEP) organized a regional “Day of Service” on March 22. MCC STEP and CSTEP representatives partnered with colleagues from area colleges to inform over 2,500 students at local high schools and vocational centers about the enrichment, support, and advocacy STEP and CSTEP provides for underrepresented students desiring to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and state licensed professions (referred to a STEML fields).

In addition to Santos, the following MCC faculty and student volunteers participated in the Day of Service and touched the lives of students at East High School, East Irondequoit High School and Wilson Commencement Academy:
