Community Fridays for a Cause

“Community Fridays for a Cause” debuts this Friday, October 5, 2012.  This is the first of six Fridays during the academic year that have been designated as part of the “Community Fridays for a Cause” program.

We are beginning the third year of the program and as a College community we should be proud of the contributions we have made to 12 charitable agencies, totaling  $5,231 over the two years.  This program has been established to increase our college-community connections by raising awareness of charitable organizations and the important work they do, but also to come together as colleagues to demonstrate our school spirit and our spirit of giving.  Wear black and gold on Friday as a show of our enthusiastic spirit for MCC!

Daystar for Medically Fragile Children, Inc. (Daystar) will be the recipient of donations collected on Friday, October 5th.

Daystar is New York State’s first and only nursing-supervised respite and daycare program for children ages six months to five years old with medical and developmental complexities. It is a one-of-a-kind program, which is specifically designed to serve families whose vulnerable children require care above and beyond the capabilities of traditional daycare.  Daystar meets their medical and social needs by providing nursing-supervised medical daycare as well as an educational support program, music therapy, and a parent support & family advocacy program. The mission of the agency is "To protect our community's most vulnerable infants, from birth to five years, by providing quality child care and family support in a safe and stimulating home environment." Daystar a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Donations will be collected in each department.  All checks should be made out to Daystar for Medically Fragile Children, Inc.  Please bring the department’s donation envelopes to Jodee Biller in the Controller’s Office by 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Don’t forget to wear school colors!

Thank you in advance for your support!
