Blue Cross Blue Shield Antitrust Lawsuit

Recently, current MCC employees, retirees and former employees received a notice via email or by USPS regarding the Blue Cross Blue Shield Class Action Settlement.  It is legit!  If you have not received a notice, they continue to be sent.  You may obtain information using the web link or telephone number listed below.

In October 2020, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies agreed to settle a multi-district, class action, antitrust lawsuit brought on behalf of all Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insured subscribers since February 7, 2008 and Self-insured subscribers since September 1, 2015. Per Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, they, along with the other Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, continue to deny the claims plaintiffs made in the lawsuit. However, to reach a settlement, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies agreed to make some operational changes and provide payment to members of the class involved in the case.

Filing a Claim

Should you choose to file a claim, the process does request a lot of information but not all is “required”.   You will be able to answer all questions without any information from MCC.  Please note that the “Plan Name” that you are and have been covered under is Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
