Road Construction Planned at 590/390 Interchange

The New York State Department of Transportation is preparing a preventative maintenance project on Interstate 590 from Highland Avenue south towards and including the I-390 Interchange in the Town of Brighton, Monroe County.

This project is scheduled to be put out to bid in August. Some construction tasks could commence in September, however, the bulk of the work will take place next season. The project is slated to be complete by November 2016.

The project will include milling and resurfacing of the mainline and all on and off ramps within the project limits including those at Highland Avenue, Elmwood Avenue, Monroe Avenue, Winton Road, and the 390/590 Interchange. Guide rail will be upgraded where necessary.  New steel guide railing will be installed in the median from near Winton Road to tie into the existing railing system near Monroe Avenue. Repairs to the bridge decks carrying I-590 and I-390 will be performed along with a surface treatment to improve the friction characteristics. Bridge decks at Winton Road, Monroe Avenue, and Allens Creek Road will also be repaired along with the mainline 390 interchange bridges. In addition, the improvements to the ramp from I-490 east to I-590 north will be made under this project. Lastly, repairs to the existing overhead signs and the existing drainage system will be included.

Once the contractor is selected, we will have a better defined construction schedule and traffic control plans. There are no planned lane closures during peak hours (6:00am - 9:00am and 3:00pm - 7:00pm on weekdays). Most of the work will be performed at night.
