Online Interaction and Communication: Keys to Student Success - ITC Audioconference


MCC will host the ITC audioconference entitled "Online Interaction and Communication: Keys to Student Success" scheduled for Tuesday March 15 from 2:00-3:00 in the Board Lounge.  The presenter is Dr. Linda Behling Gillis a  Distance Education Specialist at the Region IV Education Service Center, Houston, Texas.  Nearly 50 percent of universities, community and junior colleges in the United States offer at least one course via distance to their students. "However, losing 40-50 percent of the initially enrolled students by the end of the course is not uncommon." (Bernstein, 2004) Simple tools and strategies to increase interactivity and communication will foster student feedback, motivation, and success in online courses. This presentation is designed to will help you assess the interactive qualities of a web-based course and provide you with a checklist to assure you have communicated at an appropriate level with your students.
