Mayor leads the FAFSA Fest Kickoff at MCC Downtown

On October 1, 2018, Lovely Warren, the Mayor of Rochester, Barbara Deane-Williams, RCSD Superintendent, and Dr. Anne Kress, President of MCC, spoke at the Downtown MCC campus to kick off the opening of FAFSA for the 2019/20 school year. FAFSA is the "Free Application for Federal Financial Aid".

Later in the day, the Rochester Education Foundation / RCAN joined forces with MCC to kick off the FAFSA season with the first of several FAFSA fests. These fests provide current and future students and their parents with guidance and assistance in completing the steps necessary for obtaining Federal Financial Aid.

The event was well attended, with 34 students and over 100 visitors being served. At check-in, students had two options based on the student's level of financial aid awareness and computer ability.

Each student, who attended the event and enrolls in the fall 2019 semester at MCC, will be entered into the drawing for one of two $500 MCC bookstore scholarships. The Monroe Community College Foundation sponsors the scholarships.

Much appreciation goes out to all our wonderful staff who made the 1st FAFSA Fest successful. They include: staff from Enrollment and Financial Services, DC Student Services, Student Engagement Center, Admissions, Financial Aid, Save for Success, EOP, Downtown Student Leaders, Public Safety, Facilities, Parking Services, Sodexo, Bookstore/MCC Association, MCC Foundation and Rochester Education Foundation / RCAN.

MCC and REF... an inspiring force for our community
