MCC Foundation Grants Awarded for 2009-2010


The Monroe Community College Foundation thanks those MCC faculty and staff members who submitted exceptional grants proposals for the upcoming academic year. The foundation’s Annual Grants Committee has selected four proposals, totaling $16,895, for funding during 2009-2010.

Congratulations to the grants recipients! Their winning proposals (listed below) will uniquely impact accessibility and educational excellence at MCC.

Digital Recording Equipment
Awarded to Kathleen Farrell, Visual and Performing Arts
$3,000
Provides high performance equipment in support of computer graphics, image manipulation, design for on-line publishing and portfolio development courses. 

Crossing the Threshold: Articulation to Matriculation
Awarded to Rick Costanza and Mary Louise Musler, Education
$3,000
Removes barriers for child care providers to pursue higher education and meet new state standards through scholarship support and advanced coursework.

Advanced Cooking Lab and Event Planning Supplies
Awarded to Drew Lawrence, Hospitality Management
$4,867
Enriches the culinary arts and food preparation experience for hospitality management students and makes MCC graduates more knowledgeable and attractive to future employers.

Technology Enhanced Education
Awarded to Marcia A. Marriott, Ph.D., Business Administration/Economics
$6,028
Accommodates changing student-learning styles through the installation of SMART Boards in classrooms that serve 1,500 students across 32 courses each semester.
