VP for Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services Appointed

I am pleased to announce that Todd M. Oldham has been named vice president for Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services. The Board of Trustees approved his appointment yesterday, December 6, at its meeting.

Todd, currently the associate vice president of Corporate & Continuing Education at Clark College in Washington state, will assume his role at MCC in the spring semester.

As head of the new Division of Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services, Todd will lead the departments of Workforce Development, Technical Education, Applied Technologies, Public Safety Training, Homeland Security Management Institute, Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute, and Grants. He will serve as the college’s chief outreach officer to the business, industry and economic development sectors and will be responsible for the development of innovative, entrepreneurial and strategic initiatives designed to proactively respond to local economic development and training needs.

Todd possesses a unique blend of experience in higher education and in the business sector that will advance the college’s mission and vision and the success of our students. As someone who clearly understands the role of community colleges, he brings to MCC proven leadership and multifaceted skills in managing workforce development programs and business development initiatives and in creating career pathways for students.

Todd brings with him more than 10 years of leadership experience in higher education and in the private sector. During his five years at Clark, he secured over $2 million in new program funding and helped establish eight programs, including dental assisting and health informatics. Prior to his current position, he served in various administrative capacities at Clark, including as interim executive dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education and as director of Corporate Education. He also spent several years at Chapman University as program manager of Information Technology, supporting six campuses with continuing education programming that was predominantly focused on information technology.

His business background includes working as an account executive for Gateway Computer and as senior account manager for Working Capital Technologies.

Todd earned a master’s degree in business administration from Chapman University in California and, most recently, a certificate in project management from Boston University’s Corporate Education Center. He graduated summa cum laude from University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in socio-cultural anthropology and history and earned an associate’s with honors in history from Orange Coast College, a community college in Southern California.

Todd and his wife, Alina, have two children, Brandon, 5, and Ethan, 3. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys playing the guitar, reading and hiking.

Please join me in welcoming Todd to the MCC college community.
