Passing of Professor Emeritus David J. Templeman

I am sad to inform the college community that Professor Emeritus David J. Templeman passed on March 4, 2017. Professor Templeman began his MCC career in 1963 at College’s first campus on Alexander Street. He was promoted to assistant professor in 1967, to professor in 1971and retired in 1995.

Professor Templeman, who earned a M.A. in English from the University of Rochester and a B.A. in English from Utica College, contributed the rare combination of a rich academic background with his many years as a writer/editor for Bausch & Lomb. Highly regarded for his dedication and professionalism, he was also referred to by his colleagues as “a natural in the classroom.” For while Professor Templeman enthusiastically served MCC and his department, his passion was for teaching.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy; brother, Gareth (Deborah); son, Andrew, and daughters, Laura Caldwell (Patrick), and Leslie; grandchildren, Aaron (Laura), Caitlin and Jeremy. A memorial service was held on March 14.  https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/democratandchronicle/obituary.aspx?pid=184458178
