Alec Waight-Morabito Honored with Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership

In yesterday's MCC Daily Tribune, we shared the names of five students who received the 2020 Chancellor's Award for Excellence. We inadvertently omitted student-leader Alec Waight-Morabito and have extended our sincere apologies to Alec.

As highlighted in the award celebration's program, Alec is a Liberal Arts-General Studies major who achieved an associate degree "with distinction" and an Advanced Studies Certificate with Thesis from MCC's Honors Institute in December 2019.

Alec served in several different leadership roles in the Brighton Campus Student Government Association, including president, and was active with other co-curricular organizations. He served on the Monroe Community College Association Board of Directors and its investment committee, as well as the student-representative to Faculty Senate. Alec also volunteered with Dream Factory of Rochester.

Alec joins the following MCC Chancellor's Award recipients of whom the College is very proud:

  • Hillary Beaver (Dental Hygiene)
  • Cielos Bernardez-Martinez (Liberal Arts-General Studies)
  • William "Liam" Golden (Liberal Arts-General Studies)
  • Bridget Herald (Addictions Counseling)
  • Oksana Vysochanska (Engineering Science)
