If you're looking for another cultural event to attend this weekend, your MCC ID will admit two for the price of one at the 38th Depression Glass Show and Sale at the Eisenhart Auditorium, Rochester Museum and Science Center, 657 East Avenue:
* Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
* Sunday, Sept. 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
MCC students, staff, and faculty are being offered 2-for-1 admission by the event sponsor, the Depression Glass Club of Greater Rochester. That means you and another, who doesn't have to be from MCC, can attend for only $5.00.
The show and sale, which is the only one of its kind in Western New York, will feature
* Dealers from across the Northeast selling a sparkling selection of glassware made during the Depression-era, including green kitchenware and high-end elegant glass like candlesticks, vases and figurines
* A dozen or so vignettes depicting "Back to Basics," such as glass dishes, tumblers and serving pieces
* An educational presentation on glassware and glass manufacturers at 1:00 p.m. each day
* A lunch menu of sandwiches, salad plates and locally-made pies and other desserts
* The opportunity to bring in a piece of vintage glassware for identification by club members
This is a unique opportunity to see a truly dazzling display of vintage glassware, which is now good for everyday use, special occasions, holiday tables, and gift-giving.
