New Novel Praises Our Public Safety Training

Though the ferry may have sunk, it served as fodder for a local author and generated compliments for MCC.

Mike Nolan's summer read -- "Gone with the Breeze" by Larry Dickens
https://www.frontiernet.net/~sulindhill/20GonewtBreeze.htm -- includes praise for the crew's training through MCC's Public Safety Training Center. On page 39, for example, Dickens writes that the PSTF "represents one of the best local examples in the country of intergovernmental cooperation in the public interest." Over the next approximate 20 pages, Dickens describes the training provided to the crew of the Breeze. References are also made to training in the pool at the Brighton Campus. Dickens, a South Bristol resident, served as chief mate on the ferry.

The 280-page novel about the "two wild and tumultuous years" of the ferry was released on Aug. 4. Dickens will be reading from his novel and signing books at 2 pm Sept. 9, Barnes & Noble in Greece.
