Five Community Leaders Join MCC Foundation Board


The Monroe Community College Foundation recently welcomed five community leaders to its board of directors. Matthew Augustine (Pittsford), Richard C. Brienzi (Fairport), Michael Kane (Pittsford), Kevin Flynn (Fairport) and J. Christine Wilson (Pittsford) each will serve for a three-year term. 

Augustine is the president and CEO of Eltrex Industries, Inc., one of Western New York’s world-class outsourcing firms. Following military service in the Marine Corps, including combat in Vietnam, Augustine earned a business degree from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and an MBA from Harvard University. He serves on the board of the Rochester Business Alliance and as chairman of the Urban League’s Black Scholars program. Augustine formerly served as president of the Rochester Black Business Association. 

Brienzi has served as the executive vice president and chief financial officer of LeChase Construction Services since 1999. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New York State Society of CPAs. He serves on the Accounting and Management  Advisory Board of St. John Fisher College and the Audit Committee of the Catholic Family Center. An alumnus of MCC, Brienzi holds a B.S. in accounting/finance from St. John Fisher College.

Kane was named president and publisher of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle in August 2005. Prior to coming to Rochester, he served as president and publisher of the Lansing State Journal in Lansing, Mich. where he helped to pioneer Gannett’s launch of a series of free weekly newspapers targeting readers under age 30. Kane earned his B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Blacksburg, Va.) in 1981.

Flynn is a partner in the marketing communications firm Martino Flynn, LLC. In this role he develops creative strategy, services accounts, and supervises the media, account services and new business functions of the agency.  Flynn earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degree in communications from Cornell University. He is the president of the Center for Environmental Information’s Board of Directors and a member of the American Alpine Club, Press Radio Club, and AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association).

Wilson is president of Realty Quest, Inc. and a senior director of the Marie C. & Joseph C. Wilson Foundation. She co-founded the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley and Wilson Commencement Park, a nationally recognized model for helping low-income, single parents, gain the skills of self-sufficiency. An award-winning community philanthropist and volunteer, Wilson also serves on the boards of the Greater Rochester Enterprise and is a member of the EnCompass: Resources for Learning campaign cabinet.
