Help is only a click away with MCC Guardian

With the safety and security of the college community as our primary focus, The Department of Public Safety would like to recommend the college community download to their smartphones the MCC Guardian Mobile Safety App. This free mobile App. powered by RAVE turns student and employee smartphones into personal safety devices.

MCC Guardian works on any Android or Apple iPhone device and with any carrier. Visit the Apple i-Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device and download the free App. Search for "Rave Guardian." Register using your MCC email address (an email address that ends in "monroecc.edu") in order to access the MCC specific version of the App.

The App. has a safety feature that directly connects you to the MCC Public Safety Dispatcher (or 911 Center if off campus) in an emergency situation, as well as provide you with the ability to submit an anonymous tip to MCC Public Safety should you see something suspicious.

The App. should only be utilized in areas within MCC Public Safety's jurisdiction, including MCC's Brighton Campus, Downtown Campus, Alice Holloway Young Commons (Residence Halls) and the Applied Technologies Center. Because MCC's Public Safety Training Facility is a unique Monroe County and City of Rochester based resource for Public Safety, it is not within MCC Guardian jurisdiction. Calls placed outside MCC's jurisdiction will be redirected to the closest law enforcement agency or emergency authorities at 911.

By downloading the App. on your mobile phone, you can also invite friends and family members to join your network as your "Guardians." You can then request one or more of your Guardians to virtually travel with you on or off campus. It's like having an emergency blue light system and a trusted friend with you at all times.

I encourage all MCC Faculty, Staff, and Students to enhance their personal safety and security, as well as the safety and security of their friends by downloading the free MCC Guardian App.

If you have any questions regarding MCC Guardian or if you would like to schedule an individual, group, or Department training session for MCC Guardian, please contact emergency Manager Chuck DiSalvo at cdisalvo@monroecc.edu or call x2926.
