Emergency Preparedness and Lockdown Drills

The Department of Public Safety strives to increase the college community’s awareness regarding MCC’s Emergency Response Plan and measures you can take to keep yourself safe in the unlikely event an active threat were to take place at MCC.  As part of this effort, a series of lockdown drills will be conducted in the near future at the Brighton Campus, Damon City Campus, and the Applied Technologies Center.  More information on when each lockdown drill will take place will be forthcoming.  However, if you find yourself at any MCC location during a lockdown drill, or during a real event, be prepared to act swiftly and to follow all instructions immediately.

To help prepare for a lockdown drill, a number of presentations have been scheduled regarding Active Threat Awareness, which includes information on lockdown procedures and Public Safety’s response to an active threat on campus.  Presentation dates, times and locations are as follows:

Brighton Campus:
Wednesday, November 4th, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Empire Room)
Thursday, November 5th, 9:00 am – 10:00 am in the Empire Room
Tuesday, November 10th, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Empire Room

Applied Technologies Center:
Thursday, November 5th, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in Room #118

Damon City Campus:
Monday, November 9th, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm in Room #4151 (Lecture Hall)

We encourage you to attend one of these presentations.  However, you will also find information regarding lockdown procedures on the Public Safety webpage under the Resources Section “Emergency Management” link.  As always, you can also call the Department of Public Safety’s non-emergency number (x2912) or administrative number (x2902) if you have any questions or concerns regarding emergency preparedness or any other safety concern.
