Finger Lakes Regional Economic Council Approves Upstate Revitalization Initiative Plan

Last week, the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council (FLREDC) unanimously voted to approve its Upstate Revitalization Initiative (URI) Plan for submission. “United for Success: Finger Lakes Forward” is the title of the plan which focuses on job growth, increasing regional wealth, attracting private investment, and reducing poverty in our region.

In addition to President Kress serving on the FLREDC, Monroe Community College is well represented throughout the plan through efforts in workforce development, programs in Optics, Food & Agricultural studies, Food Management, as well as our P-TECH and SkillBuild partnerships.

The URI plan will be submitted to New York State by October 5th. Click on the following link to read the plan on the FLREDC website:

The FLREDC is encouraging the public to show their support for the URI Plan!  MCC is an integral partner in the FLREDC, and the plan’s success would be a huge win for our students and community. An online petition has been created at the following link:

I hope you will find a few moments to show your support of this effort to accelerate the transformation of our regional economy.
