Film Showings Raise Awareness, Funds for Water for Sudan

The Holocaust Genocide Studies Project at Monroe Community College will show the films “Hotel Rwanda” and “Lost Boys of Sudan” on Monday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. to raise funds for Water for Sudan and awareness of ongoing genocides in Africa. The films will be shown simultaneously in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A/B).

Members of the Holocaust Genocide Studies Project began raising funds in 2004 for Water for Sudan, an organization founded by MCC alumnus Salva Dut—himself a Sudanese refugee. Monies raised go towards drilling fresh-water wells and transforming lives in southern Sudan.

The event is free and open to the public. Contributions to the Water for Sudan Effort are encouraged.
