Rochester AmeriCorps Recovery Act Summer Program Kicks Off!

Rochester AmeriCorps at the Damon City Campus is thrilled to be the recipient of Recovery Act funding. The funding has enabled Rochester AmeriCorps to place 24 members in organizations to help strengthen communities through employment and skills training. It has also led to increased program capacity, client services and overall clients served.
The funding also provides for a summer leader position to provide guidance and support to the membes during their term of service.

AmeriCorp members are serving at a variety of sites throughout Rochester, including the Center for Youth Services, Charles Settlement House, Judicial Process Commission and many City of Rochester recreation centers.

The summer program runs from June 22nd through August 16th, 2009.  All members will serve a minimum of 300 hours, receive a modest bi-weekly living allowance and upon successful completion of the program, will receive a $1,000 education award to further their education or pay back qualified student loans.
