Memorial Day Poppy Distribution to Assist Local Disabled Veterans

Poppy Day has become a familiar tradition in almost every American community. Established in 1961, the distribution of the bright red memorial flower to the public is one of the oldest and most widely recognized programs of the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA).

As a member of ALA Post 1830 in Chili, I will be distributing crepe paper poppies during the month of May.  All poppies are handmade by veterans from Bath, NY, as part of their therapeutic rehabilitation.  Donations collected, in exchange for a poppy, will remain in the Chili unit treasury, used to assist local veterans.

If you would like to contribute to this cause, poppies are currently available in 3-120.
