The Race Is On!

On Thursday, November 20 at 6 p.m., please join MCC's Celtic Society in 12-225 for a FREE screening and discussion of TT: CLOSER TO THE EDGE. Light refreshments will be served.

This fast-paced documentary is filmed on the Celtic Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin) where the Tourist Trophy motorcycle race takes place. According to the Internet Movie Database, “The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is the greatest motorcycle road race in the world, the ultimate challenge for rider and machine. It has always called for a commitment far beyond any other racing event, and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in their quest for victory. [TT: CLOSER TO THE EDGE shares] a story about freedom of choice, the strength of human spirit and the will to win. It's also an examination of what motivates those rare few […] who risk everything to win.” (IMDb).

On Thursday 11 December, Celtic Society’s final film of the fall semester, A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS IN WALES, celebrates the holiday remembrances of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Throughout the academic year, you can catch screenings and discussions of a number of Celtic-related films. Each is free, is open to the community, and begins at 6 p.m. in 12-125.

Celtic Society’s purpose is to raise awareness of the Celtic Nations (Brittany, Cornwall, Galicia, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland, Wales) and diaspora. It aims to share and celebrate Celtic culture with the college community. Celtic Society welcomes all students, faculty, and employees, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds.
