Guests from Ukraine to Visit MCC Today

As part of the Open World program, delegates from Poltava, Ukraine will visit MCC this afternoon during their weeklong tour of local educational institutions and municipalities. In addition to MCC, the group will visit University of Rochester, Nazareth College, and The College at Brockport. The visit is sponsored by the U.S. Congress and the Library of Congress.

While at MCC, the delegates will learn about community colleges and how they fit into the overall higher education system in America. A discussion about the MCC’s Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project and opportunities to educate students and community members about the Holodomor (Ukrainian Genocide) is also on the agenda.

The Open World program is a non-partisan initiative of Congress designed to build mutual understanding between the United States and foreign nations. Since 1999 more than 14,400 Open World participants from Russia, Ukraine, and other former Soviet Union countries have been hosted in all 50 states. To find out more, please visit www.openworld.gov.
