12:00 – 12:50 p.m.
Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center, Empire Room (3-209)
Presenter:  Michael Ofsowitz, Psychology Department

Do you have the APA Style jitters?  Is your teacher hoping you’ll get the APA Style right the first time?  Do you know where to put your in-text citations, page numbers, or section heading?  Is your reference list a mess of uncertainty?  Come to the Writing Center’s APA Documentation Style Workshop for a short review of the basic APA Style.  We’ll be sure to include electronic sources, too!  Come and brush up on the APA Style before you turn in your next paper.

Damon City Campus presents:  Academic Honesty
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
12:00 – 12:50 p.m.
Room 4057
Presenter:  Robert Kennedy, Law/Criminal Justice Department

Join us for a workshop to learn what Academic Honesty is and how to avoid the dreaded crime of plagiarism.  We’ll review some of the most common traps leading to inadvertent plagiarism (cheating even when you didn’t mean to) and discuss methods of avoiding the problem.  This workshop will briefly cover citation issues related to plagiarism, proper use of quotation marks, and temptations leading to plagiarized content.  We will review the MCC policy regarding Academic Honesty, plagiarism and cheating, and explain the penalty when a student is found to have violated the policy.  Since plagiarism is a violation of the MCC Code of Conduct, it should be well worth the time to be absolutely certain to avoid it, and we’ll show you how easy it is in this workshop.

These are the final workshops for the fall series.  Hope to see you there!
