CSTEP Students in the Community


Through special funding, three CSTEP students had the opportunity to participate in an internship as mentors to area high school students and as technicians to area programs that served high school students. 

CSTEP interns:
 
Christina Kennedy - Universityof Rochester Science and Technology Entry Program  (STEP)
                                Internship: Diversity Initiatives Database Development
 
Ashley Simmons - Monroe Community College Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)
                                Internship:  Program Advisor for Science and Mathematics Participation
 
Ricardo Lagares - Rochester City Hall Youth Summer Apprentice Program (Mayor initiative)
                                Internship:  Program Mentor and Community Outreach for Geographic Information Systems Awareness

Gwendolyn Titus and Nayeli Vega were interns in the MCC CSTEP and served as database technicians and mentors to incoming freshmen students.

 
CSTEP is funded by the New York State Education Department.  Its mission is to increase the number of historically underrepresented and underserved individuals pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, licensed and health professions.
