Computer/Printer Shutdown Recommended for Planned Power Outage

Last Sunday's cogeneration power shutdown and testing revealed some problems which have now been corrected but require testing again.  The required outage will be much shorter in duration and has been coordinated across the campus.  As a result, power to the entire Brighton Campus including the Alice Holloway Young Commons will be shutdown on Wednesday, August 25 at 9 PM.  This power outage will be approximately one hour in duration or less.  Power should be completely restored by 10 PM in any case.  Again, power may go on and off intermittently during this hour outage.

Associated Systems and Network Shutdown

In preparation for the college-wide power shutdown, Educational Technology Services will begin the shutdown of computer systems and network devices at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 25.  They hope to have all systems back online by approximately 6 AM on Thursday morning August, 26.  PLEASE NOTE:  ETS RECOMMENDS THAT YOU SHUTDOWN AND POWER OFF ALL COMPUTERS AND PRINTERS BEFORE 7:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, 8/25.

Administrative computing systems will be shutdown on the following schedule:

FRS, HRS ADS  7:00 PM
SIS, Focus 7:00 PM
Banner System 7:00 PM
Ad Astra/Imaging 7:00 PM
The MCC web site will be operational, but some web resources will not be available.  These include online registration, Web for Employees, and other database driven functions.

Overnight processing should not be affected.  If you have any facilities related concerns, please contact Kevin Walton at extension 2817.  For ETS related concerns, please contact the ETS Help Line at extension 4357, option 1.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.
