Military Students Reap Benefits of VEAP!

The Veterans Early Alert Program continues to have a positive impact on the academic success of our military student population. For the fall 2015 semester the average GPA of the veteran cohort went from 2.22 at the beginning of the term to 2.74 at the end of the semester, significantly higher than the general population who ended the semester with an average 2.62 GPA.

Faculty assistance is an integral part of retaining our veteran and military students by helping connect them with appropriate support services on campus. If you have a veteran enrolled in your class you should have received an email directing you to a brief online survey regarding student progress to date.

Faculty can also use the survey comment section to provide encouragement or kudos to those students doing well or additional suggestions on how veteran/military students can improve their academic performance. These comments will be included in the email sent to the student.

The Veteran Services staff appreciates your support and thanks you in advance for your participation.
