Thoughtful Thursday

The Counseling Center and Disabiltiy Services office is highlight “Wellness Week “and we are highlight today as, “Thoughtful Thursday”.

In a world driven by social media and distance learning, it can be hard to connect with each other on a personal level. However, we can be thoughtful and kind to each other in a virtual way.  “Thoughtful Thursday”, can be a perfect time to be mindful of others, whether that is at home, work, or in your inner social circle of friends. This day is our chance to pause from our busy lifestyles to stop and be kind to each other.

Being thoughtful does not mean you have to buy someone an expensive present; rather, you can be thoughtful with a simple gesture. Studies have shown that being more thoughtful to each other can help us live a healthier lifestyle. Thoughtful acts can benefit others and ourselves. When we are thoughtful to others it can also boost our own self-esteem. Being thoughtful can also help us reduce stress and allow us to be present in the moment. We can be thoughtful by showing our appreciation towards our family, friends, and colleagues. When we are thoughtful, we are showing someone we care about their well-being and we are interested in their thoughts and opinions.

You can be thoughtful towards someone by:

  • Calling someone to check-in.
  • Holding the door for someone.
  • Sending someone a birthday card.
  • Sending someone a generous text message or email.
  • Asking someone about their day.
  • Giving someone a compliment.

Chances are you already incorporate thoughtful gestures into your life and we hope you stay safe and well!
