Appointment of Ann Topping

We are pleased to announce that Ann Topping, Ed.D, has been appointed as Dean of Students at the Damon City Campus Student Services Center effective August 23.  Dr. Topping brings a wealth of experience in student affairs to MCC.  Her work experiences include teaching and administrative positions at the Community College of Vermont, Cecil Community College in Maryland, Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania and Harford Community College in Maryland.

She comes to MCC from Harford Community College where she has been Assistant Vice President for Learning Support Services since 2002, directly supervising staff in advising, career and crisis counseling, and disability support.  She was Director of the Center for Counseling, Career and Disability Services at Harford from 2000 to 2001 where she redesigned counseling services to include personalized classes, curriculum modification and additional staff training.  She also helped to expand the delivery of counseling and career development services by integrating the use of computerized programs.

Dr. Topping was the Director of Student Affairs from 1996 to 2000 at the Pottstown campus, an urban environment of Montgomery County Community College.  As a result, she is very familiar with the dynamics of working on a campus that is removed from the main campus.

From 1983 to 1996, Ann was Director of Advising and Registration and Coordinator of Articulation and Career Development at Cecil Community College.

Ann has been an adjunct faculty member, teaching career development courses at three different community colleges.  She also taught a graduate course in qualitative research design at Wilmington College and is a member of a number of national organizations.

Please take an opportunity to welcome Ann to the College.
