April is Genocide Prevention Month

Genocide survivors of the tragedies of Darfur, Rwanda, Bosnia, Cambodia, the Holocaust, and Armenia have united with human rights advocates across the globe to observe Genocide Prevention Month in April 2009. April was chosen because “remarkably and coincidentally – all the genocides observe major anniversaries in April.”

According to
https://www.genocidepreventionmonth.org, the observance calls upon powerful nations to make genocide prevention a national and international priority and to implement policies to avert the systematic mass killing of civilians, and to take immediate action on the worsening situation in Darfur.

The Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Project is MCC’s unique organization for telling the stories of the Holocaust and other genocides while transforming individuals to become advocates for human rights. The Project will host a series of events in April to educate, commemorate and advocate for human rights. Please embrace the following opportunities to listen to the stories of those who survived Darfur and the Holocaust at the following events. (Unless indicated, all are free and open to the public.)
