Climate, Energy and Intergenerational Justice Forum featuring James Hansen - Tuesday, April 21

In partnership with the Sierra Club Rochester Regional Group, MCC’s Geosciences Association and the MCC Department of Chemistry & Geosciences will present climate scientist and activist Dr. James Hansen at an environmental forum, 6:30 to 8:30 pm Tuesday, April 21 in the theatre (Building 4, Brighton Campus). The forum is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is recommended to assure a seat.

According to Time magazine, Dr. Hansen is regarded as “one of the 100 most influential people on earth” and a leading voice in climate change. He is the former director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and current adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Earth Institute. Elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1995, he has focused his research on Earth’s climate -- especially human-made climate change -- since the 1970s. He is best known for his testimony on climate change to congressional committees in the 1980s that helped raise broad awareness about global warming.

The Sierra Club is the nation’s oldest and largest environmental organization. There are about 2,300 members in the Rochester Regional Group, and over 35,000 in the statewide Atlantic Chapter.
