Are You Nominating Colleague for MCC Award for Excellence in Professional Service?


The MCC Award for Excellence in Professional Service is designed to honor those administrators, counselors, librarians, and other professional staff such as MCC tenured faculty members for whom classroom instruction is less than one-half of their normal annual workload (i.e. Department Chairs). Those eligible will have worked at MCC for at least eight years and have gone well beyond the requirements of their job to support MCC’s mission and student success.   

The committee will grant the award on the basis of outstanding accomplishments in the following areas:
-- Achievements related to job description
-- Adaptability to institutional needs
-- Professional recognition, achievements and service
-- Innovation and initiative
-- Professional Leadership

Each application is allowed fifteen pages of supporting materials. It is up to the nominator(s) to decide which materials best support the superior work done by the nominee. Some examples of materials which may be included are:

Achievements related to job description
-- Activity reports
-- Performance evaluations
-- Lists of courses taught, continuing education or skills acquired,

Adaptability to institutional needs
-- Examples of updates or changes directly affecting position
-- Outside training received or training given to others
-- Newly adapted skills or knowledge
-- Collaborations adapted as responses to institutional needs

Professional recognition, achievements, and service
-- List any local, regional, and/or national awards

Innovation and Initiative
-- List any innovation awards received
-- Identify innovation ideas that resulted in improved student retention, student service, and/or supported new programs, policies, or procedures.
-- Identify examples of collaborations with colleagues

Professional Leadership
-- Mentoring
-- Publications, presentations, and/or conferences
-- Membership affiliations and activities
-- Non-MCC higher education or community organization activity
