Degree Works: Important Change to LA04 Liberal Arts Requirement

The MCC Health and Wellness (MHW) requirement in 2018-19 Liberal Arts -General Studies program (Semester 4) has been revised to require 3 credits rather than the previous 2-3 credits. If a student registers for, or has taken a 2-credit MHW to satisfy that requirement, Degree Works will say "1 credit still needed." To provide clarity, the following statement has been added in red text underneath the Semester 4 heading:

"The Health and Wellness (MHW) course option may be 2 credits if the student will complete the minimum 60 credits required for graduation. The 1 credit waiver will be applied at time of graduation certification if the 60 credit minimum has been attained."

As a safeguard, there has always been a 60 credit checkbox in the Degree header that must be checked in order to graduate.

An audit has been performed for all LA04 students with a 2018-19 catalog who registered for a 2-credit MHW prior to this revision. A waiver was applied for the additional credit if the student will attain the 60 credits; a Note was put on the worksheet for all other students unless they have or will have completed all the requirements for the program.
