Executive Dean Frater Shares Insights into COVID-19 Response

Dr. Joel Frater, executive dean for MCC's Downtown Campus, was a panelist in the American Council on Education's March 23 webinar, Community Colleges Respond to COVID-19 - What Leaders Need to Know.

More than 175 participants joined the webinar to hear how community colleges can weather the COVID-19 crisis. Some of the topics discussed include ways to continue serving students with non-academic and technology needs, support faculty as courses shift to distance-learning modes, and deliver courses that are traditionally taught in lab settings.

"We have a common purpose: to meet the needs of our students. We are committed to student success and we don't want to see our students fall behind," said Dr. Frater. "We have to start thinking now about how we're going to meet the needs of students if we are going to be able to sustain enrollments in our institutions. We have to continue to deliver the kinds of support services we've been delivering and we may have to enhance those services."
