MCC to be Presenting Sponsor of Greentopia Festival

Greentopia, our region’s first festival totally dedicated to environmentally friendly and sustainable living, announced MCC as this year’s presenting sponsor. Greentopia is a free festival that will be held at Rochester’s historic High Falls District on September 17 and 18.

The festival will provide entertainment for the entire family while showcasing ideas to green your everyday life. Celebrity speakers, chefs, musicians, educators and environmentalists will join many of the area’s corporate citizens in a unique, inspiring and fun-filled weekend.  MCC president Anne Kress will welcome guests to the festival at noon Saturday, September 17.

“Monroe Community College and the Greentopia Festival share some key common goals and values: a commitment to our local communities and a dedication to respecting and preserving our environment,” said President Kress. when asked why MCC became a principal supporter of the festival. “We embrace our responsibility to be positive stewards of the environment and our opportunity to inspire and educate generations to be environmental caretakers. We also take seriously our responsibility to prepare our region’s workforce for careers in fields, like agriculture and renewable energies, that will be shaped by advancements in sustainability.”

In addition to MCC’s support, other partners include: Foodlink, Wegmans, RG&E, Monroe County, the City of Rochester, Goodwill, The Community Foundation and many more.
