Something New on www.monroecc.edu

MCC’s homepage is a key communication resource for the College. It’s the gateway for several million visitors annually, is a critical means of connection with the world outside our doors, and provides us the opportunity to showcase the essence and spirit of MCC that make us a nationally acclaimed institution.

Together with partners across the College, the MCC communications, Web and technology teams are always looking for the best ways to share the college’s key messages. To this end we redesigned the MCC homepage in summer 2010. Just over a year later, we looked at the page’s Web usage data to determine if the tactics we had employed were successful. In our assessment, we noted that the information within the homepage’s “Featured,” “Spotlight” and “News & Events” tabs was not viewed as often as we hoped. We also re-examined the strategic goals of the page, noting that there is a strong, increased need for high visibility of action-oriented messages (e.g., “Apply Now,” “Register Today”) to drive enrollment.

As such, you’ll notice in the next few days that the College homepage looks a little different. We’ve moved the content areas previously tucked behind those homepage tabs directly onto the homepage so visitors will immediately see the important messages and calls to action we want to share, without having to click to access. We’re also working with representatives from each of the College’s divisions to generate and share topics for these messages so that we can help strategically communicate the College’s priorities, as well as ensure our audiences get the good information they need.

We look forward to continuing to share the College’s important stories via the Web in new and impactful ways, and to meeting the needs of our students, our College, and the Greater Rochester community.
