Seven Science Students Accepted for the 2012 SUNY Upstate, Bridges to the Baccalaureate Summer Research Program

Seven MCC science students have been accepted to the 2012 SUNY Upstate Bridges to the Baccalaureate Summer Research Experience at SUNY Binghamton. This is an NIH funded program that recruits and selects community college students interested in the biomedical sciences to experience a five week program of undergraduate research in the laboratory of a SUNY Binghamton research scientist.

The students include: Nayoko Hayase, Zane M. Haynes, Matthew Hernandez, Clementine Namba, Gerald Noble, Ignatius K. Ukatu and Orlando Ramos Villanueva.

The students attended a two day orientation at SUNY Binghamton on April 20 and April 21 and were  accompanied by Professor B. Edelbach (Chemistry) and Professor P. Wakem (Biology). Each student selected their choices for a research mentor and research project for the summer experience and toured the campus during the orientation. The students will complete their research on the Binghamton campus from May 28th  to June 29th and present a research poster of their results during the annual SUNY Upstate Bridges Poster session at Binghamton on June 29th.
