HSMI features training during National Preparedness Month

September is National Preparedness Month, four calendar weeks set specifically aside to encourage citizens to prepare for disasters and emergencies by developing a plan, creating  a disaster supply survival kit and staying informed.

Monroe Community College’s Homeland Security Management Institute is again offering a “lunch and learn” session offering free training and lunch during the month of September to MCC staff, area organizations, including nonprofits, churches, civic groups, schools and businesses. On September 29, 2009 from noon -1:00 p.m. at MCC’s Board Lounge, we will be offering a free course on “Public Health Emergencies”, which will focus on public health emergencies and simple ways to protect you and your family during the flu season.

This course will also give you a better understanding of how communities plan to administer vaccines and medications for the upcoming flu season.

Additional training opportunities will be announced in October however, to reserve your spot for this course please contact Sheila Manns at 753-3921 or email her at <<mailto:smanns@monroecc.edu>> as seating is limited.
