One of a Kind: High-Tech Expo Night

The 2014 High-Tech Exploration Night on March 19th was one of a kind with more students, employers, and guests than ever.  Due to the sponsorship of the Corning Incorporated Foundation, the amazing high-tech companies that volunteered their time, and the excellent leadership from the steering committee, the event was a huge success!  Approximately 607 attended the event; 386 pre-registered and 221 were walk-ins.

A huge kudos goes out to the leadership steering committee and a big thank you to our industry participants.

Event Objective:
Employers tell us it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find qualified, trained people in high tech fields. The objective for the High-Tech Exploration Night is to expose high school juniors and seniors, along with their parents, high school educators and counselors, and undeclared MCC students, to the excellent technical careers that are available in the Finger Lakes Region. MCC offers training for many of these necessary skills. This event is the perfect link between high school students, MCC, and local high tech companies who are looking to hire qualified, trained workers.  At the High-Tech Exploration Night, students have the opportunity to talk with staff from the area’s leading companies, such as,  Advanced Manufacturing, Electronics, Optics, Precision Machining, Engineering, and Computer Information Technology. Attendees can also speak with MCC faculty and staff, explore MCC’s innovative engineering and technology programs, and tour the tech labs and facilities at the Brighton Campus.
