MCC will host the ITC Audioconference entitled "Comprehensive Support for Online Faculty" scheduled for Tuesday, July 27 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Board Lounge. This session will explore the multifaceted dimensions of a comprehensive faculty support program that serves a large constituency of instructors, diverse perspectives, multi-campus faculty cultures, and leverages unique collaboration with several college departments.
The presenters (Loraine Schmitt, Manager Distance Education Programs, Sean Thorbeck, Development and Production Specialist, Patrick Connell, Development and Production Specialist, and Donna Swanson, Coordinator of Online Programs, Portland Community College) will share a menu of strategies used for communication, administrative support, training, teaching resources, course development and production services serving more than 175 online faculty. Topics will include communication methods, offering a variety training opportunities, options for personal assistance, online resources, faculty compensation, course development processes and projects, and examples of learning object projects.
